Philosophy for Children is not just for children! P4C is a practice of inquiry that uses philosophising to help people work out what should be believed, done and valued. In the process of discovery, many conflicting opinions can arise. It supports a respectful discussion that enables participants to evaluate, clarify, identify and examine inconsistencies in order to reach a point where everyone feels they have made some progress on their thinking through listening to other peoples ideas and building on them.
In this P4C workshop we will experience the methodology first hand by discussing a topic and question chosen collectively. We will then have time for more informal questioning and discussion around how we may implement the method in our differing contexts with different groups.
The session will be facilitated by Rob Unwin and Helen Griffin from the Development Education Centre of South Yorkshire in England.
