Lesbos lifts blockade on shipping containers to house refugees in overcrowded tent shanty town | The Telegraph | 12 Dec. 2017
The Greek island of Lesbos reluctantly lifted a blockade of 50 shipping containers on Tuesday in a move likely to lead to the expansion of its notorious refugee camp. It came as the EU is to consider scrapping its ambitious refugee resettlement programme, in a move that would pile even more pressure on Greece, where more than 60,000 refugees have been stuck in limbo since the peak of the migration crisis of 2015. The metal containers that were sent to Lesbos will be used to house refugees and migrants who have been sleeping in flimsy tents in the chronically overcrowded camp at Moria.
